One of the most unusual museums in the Republic of Moldova and Gagauzia, is the carpet live weaving musseum in the village of Gaidar. The purpose of the museum is to revive the traditions of our ancestors in weaving carpets, nowadays this craft is so complex that it is forgotten by contemporaries.
Handmade carpets are carefully crafted and are more valued than those created in industrial conditions. About 50 years ago, namely through the weaving of carpets, women from the village of Gaidar made money for their existence, by selling them or by exchanging them on household items and even food. Today, museum exhibits travel all over the world, participating in a variety of craft exhibitions. Of course, on the territory you can also the carpet that you liked the most.
In the museum you will be acquainted with over 300 exhibits, also take part in the making of woolen yarn with your own hands, and then create your own carpets. Due to the popularity of the museum, every year is organized the carpet day, which takes place in the day of the village’s dedication, with the name “Gagauz kilimneri”, which is visited by tourists.
