We invite you to visit the Regional Historical Museum in Comrat. The museum began its official activities in 1969. The basis was the House of Pioneers in Comrat, the participants of which carried out tourist meetings and creative clubs on their own. Children, led by their leaders, collected local historical material and conducted archaeological work. All this became the basis of the Comrat Museum. The museum organized the first tourist clubs, held meetings of tourists, young explorers of Comrat schools.
Today the museum is one of the main and popular museums of Gagauzia, and one of the most visited sights of the south of Moldova, where visitors can observe the evolution of the history of the Gagauz people and this region.
The museum fund has more than 70 thousand exhibits, that recreate the history of Gagauzia for several thousand years, starting from the 3rd – 4th centuries AD. Newer exhibits talk about the history of the Gagauz people, their customs, culture, medicine, and political life.
