The city is situated on the river Dniester, in the north region of the country at 160 km from Chisinau. The first mention of city dates back to 1499.

Transfer to city Comrat

Comrat is the capital and the most important city of Gagauz Autonomy. It was founded in 1789.

City Tour Comrat

You will get acquainted with the capital of Gagauzia – it is the center and the largest city of Gagauzia. The name Comrat consists of two words of Turkic origin “komur-at”, which means “black horse”. One of the legends says, that a certain “khan” named the village in honor of his horse, who carried the wounded owner from the battlefield.
