At 3 km from the town of Ceadir-Lunga is the aerodrome, now abandoned, once known throughout the Soviet Union. In 1964 here, at Ceadir-Lunga airport, for the first time in USSR history, the AN-2 aircraft was captured. The attackers demand the crew to fly to Turkey However, the crew managed to trick them, the plane being diverted to Chisinau. Near Chisinau, a fight broke out between the attackers and the pilots on board, the plane crashing to the ground. After this case the Soviet Union began producing aircraft with armored doors to protect the crew.
From Ceadir Lunga aerodrome, regular flights flew to Chisinau, Tiraspol, Odessa. Today, tourists will be greeted by some abandoned aircraft on the old runway, at present the airport is not functional. You can visit the abandoned Chadir Lungi airport together with our company as part of one of the excursions to Gagauzia.
